What Symptoms And Behavior Is The Officer Looking For During The Initial Detention For DUI?

Video Transcription:

An officer during an initial detention at the scene of a DUI is looking for a number of things. They’re looking for typical physical responses to someone who’s intoxicated, someone who has slurred speech, someone who has bloodshot eyes, someone who has a flushed face, someone who fumbles to get their paperwork out of their wallet or out of their glove compartment, that doesn’t know necessarily where they are. They’ll ask questions, divided attention questions to divide your attention to see if you can do two things at one time. They’re looking for all of those things that we associate with having too much to drink.
