Local Attorney Here to Help
T. Charles Shafer, a local attorney based in downtown Ft. Pierce has been committed to helping Ft. Pierce, St. Lucie County and the entire Treasure Coast be the best it can be, since he arrived in community. His law practice is focused on criminal defense, family law and DUI, but that only tells part of the story.
Shafer has served as past President of the St. Lucie County Bar Association, served as a Board Member with the BlueBird Educational Foundation, he actively supports the Special Olympics and Exchange Club and he currently serves as a Board Member with St. Lucie County ARC. He has also been a proud supporter of the SLC Safety Festival, which was created to showcase our local First Responders.
Once the pandemic hit our community, Shafer was quick to react.
“We immediately modified our law practice to help protect our staff, clients and our community,” stated Shafer. “We work with clients via Zoom, Facebook, online and via phone. We are able to answer their questions and protect their legal rights while social distancing.” In addition, the office has remained open throughout the pandemic. “We have followed CDC guidelines with 6-feet of separation. We provide had sanitizer and soap and water and everyone is asked to wear a mask for their own protection.”
Shafer is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Law School. He served as an Assistant Public Defender, prior to opening his own practice in 1991. He has held the highest possible rating for both ethical standards and legal ability from Martindale-Hubbell since 2013 and he has been recognized as one of the Best Divorce Lawyers in St. Lucie County. In addition, Shafer has welcomed Florida Supreme Court Justice Ricky Polston and Florida Bar President John M. Stewart to local events.
“We are all in this together, is a cliché we’ve all heard,” added Shafer. “When it comes to the pandemic, its very true. And we all must do what we can to protect our community and keep the people safe.”
