Do Some Drug Offenses Carry Harsher Punishments Than Other Drug Defenses?

Some offenses do carry harsher penalties than other drug offenses. Possession charges are not as severe or harsh a penalty if convicted than possessing with intent to distribute or actually selling the drug. Certainly if you sell a drug within certain distances from schools and churches and the like, then you will face harsher penalties than if you simply possess that same drug and are convicted of possession.
